The Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 2010
Code for Sustainable Homes
The Code is the national standard for the sustainable design and construction of new homes. The Code aims to reduce our carbon emissions and create homes that are more sustainable. The Government has decided to abandon it's commitment to make Lifetime Homes mandatory for Code level 4 this year. If there is insufficient consultation responses that show the strength of feeling around this it is likely that one of the key tools that support the need for adapatable housing will be severely compromised. This will in turn make it more difficult for Local Authorities to develop and defend robust policies that make homes and their surroundings inclusive for all of our changing needs.
Deadline for responses is 24 March 2010.
